Björklunden Summer Seminar
July 31–August 6, 2011 Baileys Harbor, Door County, Wisconsin
This seminar is for novice through experienced watercolor painters who wish to explore watercolor as an expressive medium in the beauty of the Björklunden and Door County landscape. Drawing skills are useful but not required, and you do not need previous experience using watercolor to participate. Participants will explore a wide range of traditional and experimental techniques in transparent and opaque watercolors while they explore the possibilities of this expressive painting medium. Whether you enjoy painting from nature or you are ready to explore your own imagination, this course will give you the tools and direction you need to create strong statements in watercolor. Participants from previous summers are welcome to repeat this class.
• Watercolor: A Fresh Start Weekend August 12–14, 2011
Wyoming Valley School, outside Spring Green, Wisconsin
This watercolor weekend is designed for absolute beginners as well as for those who have had some experience painting with watercolor but need a refresher to start again. Plan on enjoying this opportunity to learn or re-learn watercolor from an artist passionate about the medium. Workshop participants will explore basic traditional approaches to watercolor painting as well as fresh and experimental watercolor techniques. The goal is to send participants home with the skills and tools to keep on painting.
Schedule: Friday afternoon (1–4 p.m.), Saturday all day (10 a.m.–4 p.m.), and Sunday all day (10 a.m.–4 p.m.)

• Finding Your Creative Voice in Mixed Media Weekend
August 19–21, 2011

Spend a weekend using mixed media collage to take the next steps toward overcoming the internal censors that stop you from moving forward in your art. Begin to develop a personal iconography in your art and find a path toward bringing what you care about into your art and learning how to use your own life as a resource. The workshop is designed to accommodate experienced and beginning artists who would like to participate in guided projects that will open them up to new directions.

Helen Klebesadel offers art classes and workshops on several topics in a number of formats, custom designed to fit the group, the space, and the creative needs of the participants. Individual consultations are also available. Do not hesitate to ask for an adaptation to fit your group's needs.

Workshops:
• $90/full day per person; $50/half day per person in groups of 4 or more; Includes positive critique and packet of information/exercises.
Private Watercolor Instruction:
• 1 person: $40/person/hour
• 2 people: $35/person/hour
• 3 people: $30/person/hour

Private Critique or Consultation:
• $50 first session, $30 subsequent sessions
Arranged Group Workshops:
$ 500/day/group workshop + travel and lodging. (Limit of 15 per workshop.) Students bring their own supplies based on a materials list provided. Some communal supplies will be provided. Organizers are responsible for providing an appropriate workshop space. Instructor's transportation and lodging costs are required for out-of-state workshops. The cost of the workshop can be negotiated under special circumstances.

This class can be offered as a mixed-media or watercolor workshop aimed at developing creative thinking and personalized subject matter. Available as a one-day, full weekend or weeklong workshop.

Advancing Your Watercolor is a series of one-day workshops that can be combined for longer learning opportunities. These workshops are designed for participants who have had some training in watercolor. Each workshop is focused on advancing the participants' technical, creative, and critical processes in watercolor.
Description: Spend the morning exploring the fresh potential of watercolor techniques. Each afternoon, participate in individual and group supportive critiques intended to provoke discussion of approaches to art-making with the aim of advancing each individual in the group.
• Goal Setting for Artists
This is a one day workshop designed for participants who have made a commitment to their art but who could use a little guidance in starting to create a plan of action.
Description: So you’re hard at work making your art: What do you want to do with it when you’re finished? Whether you are interested in sales, gifts, exhibits, art fairs, art activism, or an online presence, you have many possible ways to share your art with others. In this class we take the time to imagine some possibilities so you can decide on your next steps.
• Advancing Your Watercolor/Mixed Media: Art and Career
This one or two-week workshop is designed for intermediate/advanced watercolor or mixed media artists to give them the opportunity to experience a unique blend of art exercises, supportive critique, and guided activities geared to expand their art making and visibility as artists.
